About the Author

LESLEY DORMEN was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Her short stories have been published in The Atlantic Monthly, Ploughshares, Five Points, Open City, Glimmer Train and Ladies' Home Journal. Two have been included in "100 Other Distinguished Stories" of the year in Best American Short Stories. Her articles, essays, and humor have appeared in magazines that include O, The Oprah Magazine, Elle, Ladies' Home Journal, Glamour, Redbook, Mademoiselle, Mirabella, Seventeen, Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, Psychology Today and Playboy. Dormen's work is anthologized in 20 Over 40, edited by David Galef and Beth Weinhouse; Unholy Ghost: Writers on Depression, edited by Nell Casey; Maybe Baby: 28 Writers Tell the Truth About Skepticism, Infertility, Baby Lust, Childlessness, Ambivalence, and How They Made the Biggest Decision of Their Lives, edited by Lori Leibovich; Crème de la Femme: The Best of Contemporary Women's Humor; Live Your Best Life: A Treasury of Wisdom, Wit, Advice, Interviews, and Inspiration from O, The Oprah Magazine. She co-authored (with Mark Zussman) The Secret Life of Girls and The Grown-Up Girl's Guide to Boys. Dormen is the grateful recipient of fellowships from The MacDowell Colony and Yaddo. She teaches fiction writing at The Writers Studio in Greenwich Village, where she lives with her husband, Quentin, and their Labrador retriever, Eliza.
